# Where the money goes

Radical transparency: every euro, documented.

Every euro raised is assigned to a concrete line item and documented here. This is the full breakdown of what the money can go to, in whatever order is needed.

## **What the rebiopsy costs**

The centrepiece of the campaign is a single bone biopsy: everything current science allows is extracted from it today, and the rest is preserved so it can be analysed for 10+ years. Its cost splits into two blocks.

**Analyse now**

**≈ €15,000–35,000**

Broad sequencing, expression, functional proteomics, single-cell and organoids on the freshly obtained tissue.

**Preserve and bank**

**≈ €10,000–25,000**

Frozen, OCT and live tissue properly stored for new analyses as science advances.

One procedure, not several: each preserved format avoids having to biopsy again in the future.

*Indicative figures, under review with the labs. Final amounts will be published in the monthly expense report.*

*The first goal's €40,000 covers the first stage; the full range is funded in phases.*

## **The money raised covers, in whatever order is needed:**

- Medical and care expenses related to the case.
- Diagnostic, follow-up and re-evaluation tests.
- Consultations with specialists and second opinions.
- Medication and treatments not fully or partially covered.
- Medical supplies and health support products.
- Travel, accommodation and meals tied to medical visits.
- AI tools used to analyze the case. This is currently the main expense: all the work is supported by AI.
- Processing, management and clinical documentation costs.
- Outreach, communication and campaign support.
- Professional support for organizing the crowdfunding.
- Platform fees, payment gateways and administrative costs.
- Any other medical, care or logistical need arising from the case.

## **Frequently asked questions**

### **How do I know the money goes to this?**

Every euro is assigned to one of the line items above and will be documented in a monthly expense report we'll publish on this very page. Nothing is diverted outside the case.

### **What if more is raised than expected?**

Funds follow the order of priorities: first the rebiopsy and treatment, then monitoring and the analyses the tumour comes to require. Any surplus is kept intact for the case's future medical needs.

### **Is donating safe? Is there a receipt?**

Yes. Donations are processed through GoFundMe with secure payment, and you can request a receipt by getting in touch.

### **Can I help without donating money?**

Absolutely. Sharing the site with the right people —oncology, research or patients— can be as decisive as a donation. [See all the ways to help](https://helpmiriam.com/en/collaborate).
